Postnatal Period
The postnatal period is the phase of familiarisation and recovery after birth. We attend you in this phase on a holistic level and support the growing process towards parenthood.

Once you have arrived home safely with your child, the postnatal care by the responsible midwife begins, which ends at the latest at the 12th week of life. The growing family has already prepared for this time with the midwife in charge before birth, and the midwife will guide you through any initial uncertainties so that your child can grow and thrive in love, and baby handling and care literally becomes child’s play. We also pay particular attention to breastfeeding, a core competence of midwifery.
Regular visits allow us to keep an eye on the development and growth of the newborn and the mother’s progressive recovery and healing. This includes the involution of the uterus, the healing of any perineal injuries and revitalisation of the pelvic floor muscles and, of course, the various emotional and social processes in the new family. If you are experiencing emotional fluctuations, we midwives are at your side in a needs-orientated manner and have an open ear for many of your concerns and questions.
If special situations arise during this time, we help to find other professional support groups and work with them on an interdisciplinary basis.
